Its 2015, what person isn’t wearing color contacts , or prescription contacts? Whether you wear it for a fashion statement or to actually see, the carelessness of contacts can lead you to become blind. Nearly 41 million Americans who wear contacts lenses; I can almost guarantee you that the process of putting them on and taking them off is as easy and changing your socks. However out of all those Americans who wear contact lenses; I can also almost guarantee you that they are very careless when it comes to the care of their lenses.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds that virtually all contact lens wearers admit to at least one safety lapse that could increase their risk of an eye infection . Have you ever gone to your eye doctor, because your eye was red, irritated, or seem infected.

 

The CDC report is based on a nationwide survey of about 1,000 contact lens wearers age 18 or over. About 93 percent reported wearing some variety of soft contacts, made of flexible plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea.

The most common eye infection contact lenses users are caused from napping in their contacts. Falling asleep in your contacts can and will increase the risk of an eye infection

 

Another careless act lenses users have is wearing contacts in water. Almost 85 percent ever showered with their lenses in, and 61 percent went swimming with them, even though health officials say lenses should not come in contact with water.

Here are some safe guidelines for your eye care

– Don’t try to stretch out the user life of a pair of contacts. If they are supposed to be used for a set period of time, such as a day or week, don’t try to squeeze extra time from them. Replace as directed.
